Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
After a long week of writing TPS reports and suffering through discussions about a prolonged recession, you’ll need to recharge, refresh, and reload. Or forget.
Drive your Toyota Corolla to Coconut Grove and cruise by the cocky peacocks wandering in traffic on Tigertail Avenue while you blast Bob Dylan until you arrive at 3131 Commodore Plaza. There you’ll hear music pumping outside, you’ll see street performers competing for your spare change, and you’ll smell hot dogs, roasted almonds, and hobo cologne.
Beginning at 6 p.m. this Saturday, celebrate local musicians, artists, and businesses at the Coconut Grove Block Party. And this party won’t stop till 3 in the morning. All through the night, enjoy specials on drinks and food. You’ll fall in love with the Grove all over again. The event is free.
