If you’ve ever shared a home with someone, you know that the thought of him or her catching you masturbating can put a real damper on your self-love. But walking in on your roommate while you’re masturbating? That’s comedy gold.
“The other day I walked in on my roommate while I was masturbating,” comedian Nick Thune joked during the 2010 Just for Laughs Festival in Toronto. “My roommate is actually my wife; she hates when I call her my roommate, especially when I’m introducing her to other girls.”
Thune’s brand of dry, absurdist humor has earned the Seattle comic, who is appearing at the Miami Improv (3390 Mary St., Coconut Grove) this Wednesday through Saturday, a solid fan base and several appearances on late-night television, including The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and Conan, as well as bit parts in movies such as Knocked Up and Unaccompanied Minors.
However famous, though, Thune has kept a level head and healthy bowels. Not letting comedic superstardom spoil him, the funnyman still poops like the common folk.
“I remember when I read the back of shampoo bottles when I was going to the bathroom,” he recently tweeted. “Now I Google ‘back of shampoo bottles’ on my iPhone.”
Keep it real, Thune.
