Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Attention, fellow nerds! As of today, it is now safe to leave our mothers’ basements. Animation Supercon has returned to the DoubleTree Miami Mart.
Multiple cast members from Pinky and the Brain — that Orson Wellesian tribute to evil genius — and Matt Groening’s greatest creation, Futurama (which surpassed The Simpsons long ago) — will be in attendance as we gather to bow down before our pantheon of hand-drawn gods. As usual, we can expect a generous helping of booths, costume contests, cosplay, panels, videogames, photo opportunities, and parties spread across the 100,000-plus square feet of the exhibition center. One-day tickets start at $25, while three-day weekend passes start at $40. Hours are 3:30 to 10 p.m. Friday; 11 to 8 Saturday; and 11 to 6 Sunday.
Fri., Oct. 2, 3:30-10 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 3, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 4, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., 2009
