Before football season goes out with a bang — or a fizzle if you’re a Dolphins fan — it’s time to soak up the last of the pigskin festivities. This month’s Family Fun Fest at Biscayne National Park is the football-themed, science-learning Biscayne Bowl, so take the kids out for some gridiron good times.
Participants will receive a passport that earns a stamp for each of five activities, including Go Fins!, where kids can practice identifying dolphins; the Mangrove Combine, which educates attendees on mangroves’ heavy defenses; Quarter Backs, a chance to start a collection of National Park quarters; Mascots Galore!, a showcase of stories behind popular mascots; and Halftime!, a review of game highlights. At the finale, kids will get a special button to celebrate everything they learned.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to get your children into something a bit more productive than Madden NFL 15. Biscayne Bowl takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Biscayne National Park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center (9700 SW 328th St., Homestead). Admission is free. Visit nps.gov/bisc or call 305-230-PARK.
