Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Miami has a bad DJ surplus. The technological trickery of programs such as Final Scratch and Traktor has vaulted a whole generation of tin-eared scenesters into thinking they’re black-jeaned Beethovens, when really, if you take away the digital beat-matching, they can’t even blend doubles of Skull Snaps.
That’s why this town needs you — yes, you — sensitive, music-loving artist that you are, who’s DJ-curious but doesn’t think she has the necessary douchebaggery to make it on South Beach. Nonsense! It’s skills that pay the bills in the Miami of the future, and the Scratch Academy can give them to you. Come out this Friday at 7 p.m. for a free — that’s right, free — DJ class taught by dudes (DJ Craze is on the faculty — nuff said) who really know their craft.
