Back in 1900, when L. Frank Baum concocted a story about a girl named Dorothy, her little dog Toto, and a tornado, he probably didn’t imagine his story would live to see 109 years old and have more incarnations than the Constitution. But to the delight of flying monkey lovers worldwide, The Wizard of Oz is one of the best-known tales in history, falling second only to the fable of the 2000 U.S. presidential election. And while to us, nothing can compare to watching a brown-skinned Michael Jackson “ease on down the road,” our very own Actors’ Playhouse is bringing the story of emerald-faced witches and punk-ass lions to the Miracle Theatre.
Beginning this Wednesday and running through November 8, you and the kiddies can revel in a story about falling real estate that won’t affect your stock portfolio. Ding-dong, the witch is dead for just 15 bucks per person for Saturday matinees, and less for weekday field trips.
