Fresh off an East Coast road trip, the Miami Heat will return to battle Eastern Conference foes the Atlanta Hawks tonight. The Heat is looking to avoid last season’s downfall and shake the cycle of complacency and injuries to key members of the squad. There was a buzz on South Beach earlier this month when the team physician cleared Heat leader Dwyane Wade for full-contact workouts — for the first time since last season’s playoff run. Hooray!
Wade’s injuries began in Houston on February 21, when he dislocated his left shoulder. After six weeks of rehab, following season-ending surgery, he came back for the stretch run in April, only to further aggravate a nagging left knee. Here’s hoping he’s almost ready to jump back into the swing of the season. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. at the American Airlines Arena. Tickets for the hoop action begin at only 10 bucks.
