Oh, Miami. We’ve been adulterous with our thoughts. We’ve been secretly pining for other cities, romanticizing their street markets. When the lights go off, we dream of going in and out of the aisles of London’s Spitalfields Market and running our fingers over smooth ceramic jewelry at Brooklyn Flea. A girl has needs, you know?
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $18,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Promises have been made, though, and we agree to stick around and try to make things work. There’s been talk of a open-air market in the Design District by the New York folks at Launch Arte, and now designer Nektar de Stagni is getting in on the market game. Starting December 2, she will open NDS Market in her retail space, which recently housed the So Raw pop-up shop.
A sort of open-air market contained under one roof, the NDS Market will
showcase up-and-coming Miami designers, artists, music, and
publications. Here’s who is on the roster so far:
ConfettiSystem
Danika
Emiko Oye
