The Nutcracker isn’t the only story about inanimate objects coming to life. The Steadfast Tin Soldier, which enraptured audiences and drew solid reviews from critics last year, is back. It describes a crippled soldier made out of tin who falls in love with a plastic ballerina. He meets a foe who’s so against this love that he’s willing to destroy him by any means necessary. But no matter what this troll does, he can’t kill the soldier’s spirit or desire to love.
You may not have a body made of tin or a troll as your mortal enemy, but if you’re human, we can bet that a part of you can relate to this story. Watch the Playground Theatre bring this original toy story to life at the Byron Carlyle Theater today at 3 p.m.
