You started out braiding zigzag declarations of love called friendship bracelets, the addictive wrist confection and, color-wise, the only competitor Lisa Frank unicorns ever had. Because it’s been years since you’ve picked up a soggy spool of embroidery thread, it might be time to flex your craft muscles on the next level in finger art — knitting. You’ve seen Karelle Levy’s knitastic lines full of pieces she made with her own handmade fabrics, and now you can learn how to needle up your own creation. It’ll take more than one class to be in the New York Times like KRELwear, but Stichin’ Boozin’ Bitches goes down each Monday from 8 p.m. to midnight. So head to Michael’s and buy a starter kit or pick one up at the Standard before the session begins. You’ll arrive in the midst of the annual Long Scarf contest, so if you notice some needly aggression, it’s all in the name of bragging rights and some awesome Standard Spa prizes.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
