Nothing says summer like a blanket, a bottle of wine, and live tunes under the stars. Luckily for Miamians, summer never ends. In fact, they only get better once September arrives.
The Barnacle, Coconut Grove’s charming historic state park, is hosting the folk crooners of Passerine for an evening gig — the perfect way to usher in part two of our summer celebrations.
Dubbed “Band of the Year” at the Deland Original Music Festival in 2012, Passerine is named for an order of birds that includes both sweet songbirds and their edgier cousin — the raven. Think of the band as folk meets bluegrass, with original tunes ranging from tender ballads to mod Americana.
So pop a squat under Orion and listen to the vocal stylings of some talented songbirds.
The gate opens at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Barnacle (3485 Main Hwy., Coconut Grove), and the music plays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for nonmembers of the Barnacle Society, $8 for members, $3 for children ages 6 to 9, and free for children under 6.
