Call him Billy “Cristal,” because this Wednesday, Billy Crystal will be the toast of Miami. In a big win for both the Arsht Center and Miami audiences, Crystal will bring his Tony Award-winning one-man show, 700 Sundays, to town.

Taking us all the way through Crystal’s rise to megastardom, 700 Sundays chronicles the hero’s journey without getting mired down in the hero himself. Instead, the show is a loving tribute to the influences and people Crystal met along the way, including his talented uncle, songwriter Milt Gabler. It’s pretty much impossible to find a bad review of the show, and it’s not every day you get to sit within spitting distance of Miracle Max himself as he sings, tells jokes, and acts. Who needs Barbra Streisand?

If this Wednesday’s 8 p.m. show is sold out — and it will be by the time the curtain rises — you might still be able to catch the Oscar host extraordinaire, because he’ll be at the Arsht through Sunday, December 13. Tickets start at $50.50.
Dec. 9-13, 8 p.m., 2009
