You can valet park to see a blockbuster film at any of the big cinema chains, but do you really need to pay good money to see Nicolas Cage mumble laughable action-hero dialogue, or watch Katherine Heigl desperately mug for chuckles? There are some great films to be found in this town, and if you’re any kind of cineaste, you should put Cineclub 24 on your radar.

Doing ballet school during the week and art-house theater on weekends, curator Felipe Nápoles screens vintage classics every Sunday at 3 and 5 p.m. He specializes in the eras when stars had faces, and movies had timeless resonance. This week’s lineup gets two snaps up: Cineclub’s Cinema Super Divas day features the eyes of Betty Davis in All About Eve at 3 p.m., and the incomparable Gloria Swanson gets ready for her eternal closeup in Sunset Boulevard at 5 p.m. Admission is seven bucks, and that includes a short, two films, and refreshments. Season tickets are available. Call 305-677-3602, or e-mail felicuam@comcast.net.
