Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
We see you in your car, thrusting your imaginary gun in the air, rapping furiously to Tupac’s “All Eyez on Me.” Yeah, we point and giggle at you, but deep down we relate because in our little studio apartment we become Lil’ Kim, Ghostface Killa, and Jay-Z on the regular. So tonight we’re gonna be at Purdy Lounge with our fellow wannabes for some Hip-Hop Karaoke. There will be no Celine Dion and no Britney Spears, so those of you wishing to show off your vocal range, stick to Studio or Little Hoolie’s.
“Hip-Hop Karaoke is the perfect opportunity for both closet and seasoned MCs to grab the mike and show their skills,” says supercool host A/V. Signup for “performers” is between 10:00 p.m. and midnight, which is also the time when you can sip free Colt 45 to really bring out your best rapper swagger. The karaoke starts at midnight, and there’s no cover, but you gotta be 21 or older to set foot in the place.
