Miami has a lot to be proud of, especially in the department of fictitious vigilante serial killers. Seven years ago, Miami crime novelist Jeff Lindsay released Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the first installment in a series and the basis for Showtime’s wildly popular Dexter.
Dexter Morgan is a forensic scientist with the Miami Metro Police Department whose late-night hobby primarily consists of Robin Hood-like sociopathic killing (you know, targeting people who commit heinous crimes, folks who deserve it). In the TV series, he has murdered rapists, drug lords, gangbangers, and snipers. And in the book, shady nurses and surgeons have fallen victim to his fatal blows. In Lindsay’s forthcoming novel, Double Dexter, the author continues the saga in his witty, darkly humored style. The Miami native kicks off his publicity tour Tuesday at Books & Books.
