Move over, Detroit. Make room, New York City. Miami is about to make some serious noise. Churchill’s Pub (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami) is the home of all things thrashy, trashy, and raw in the 305, and for the 19th year running, the Little Haiti mainstay has announced the return of the Miami Rock Festival, featuring the hardest and brightest names in the local rock ’n’ roll scene. But don’t let the name fool you. Churchill’s welcomes bands from other parts of the country too, as long as they’re here to go hard. It’s a monthlong celebration, so don’t worry about taking time off work or hustling your ass down until you know which groups you want to see the most. Of course, no one will stop you if you decide to get your bash on every night of the fest. It kicks off this Friday and runs through September 30. All manner of genres will be represented, from metal to punk to Latin and even some really rockin’ jazz.
