Here in Miami, we’ve gotten used to landing on best and worst listicles. With our particular brand of tricked-out tropical realness, you either love us or you hate us. Sorry we’re not sorry.
For the second year running, Condé Nast Traveler has asked its readers to report on America’s friendliest and unfriendliest cities in its annual Readers’ Choice, asking readers to rate the cities in which they felt “most welcome.” We bet you already know where Miami falls.
Tourists tend to love Miami for its world-class restaurants and shopping, not to mention its white sandy beaches, but scoff that it’s too overpriced, too trendy, and too touristy. We can definitely agree with that.
As the 10th unfriendliest city, we’re a far cry from being as inhospitable as places like L.A. or Newark, who earned itself the top spot as America’s unfriendliest town. Making a case for friendly was good ol’ Southern hospitality, with places like Savannah, New Orleans, and Charleston taking the crown.

With so much to offer, we aren’t surprised that you’re flocking to Miami like birds in the winter, but can you blame us for being angry about the inflated traffic and cocktail prices? Put yourself in our sequined stilettos and think twice before dissing us next time around.
