We hear you spent all your money on iPhone apps that track how poor you are. So we’ve researched a lineup of free things to do this week to keep the inevitable depression at bay.
Monday: What to do when the summer lull kicks in? Look for art in strange places, e.g. the public library. Derek Buckner’s “Paredolia” is on display at the Miami-Dade County Main Library. Hey, it’s got a kickin’ AC.
Tuesday: Boost your serotonin by yucking it up at Tuesday’s Casa de Ha Ha, the comedy night at Sweat Records. No cover!
Wednesday: Kill Your Idol is one of our favorite watering holes, but when they add a Ladies Drink Free night, they become simply irresistible.
Thursday: This week, at the always-free Frost Museum, see Haitian folk
art in the “Tap-Tap” exhibit and then head to Tap Tap, SoBe’s only
(right?) Haitian restaurant.
Friday: The Wolfsonian is screening the documentary
Milton Glaser: To Inform & Delight. So come learn about the graphic desgin genius behind the “I heart NY” campaign,
Milton Glaser, who also founded New York Magazine and designed the
Brooklyn Brewery logo. Certainly there are enough
graphic design enthusiasts and displaced New Yorkers in town to give a damn. It’s free for museum members or just shell out the $10.
