Monday: Sometimes it feels like we need a flux capacitor just to get through Mondays. Continue with that theme at Buck 15’s Buck to the Future party for some Rum and Tab soda. No cover!

Tuesday: It’ll be strange to see her without Stacey and Clinton but What Not to Wear‘s makeup artist Carmindy will be the Bal Harbour Books & Books this Tuesday to hand out some free beauty advice.

Wednesday: Author and explorer of the dark sides of Southern culture Dorothy Allison will do a free reading at MDC’s Writers Institute this Wednesday afternoon.

Later that night, David Frankel, director of The Devil Wears Prada and Marley and Me, will judge a short film contest by Miami Beach Senior High students as part of the Romance in a Can Film Festival.

Thursday: At Wynwood’s Butter Gallery, Tawnie Silva has crafted recycled plastic bags into a giant, smiling blowup doll. The gallery is open noon until 6 p.m.

Friday: Hear Portland-based writer Zachary Schomburg read from his latest book of poetry Scary No Scary and see JJ Peet’s solo art show “The Sunday Painter.” Both free on Friday night at Gallery Diet in Wywood.
