Calling men and women of the ’90s, midnight marauders, all intelligent beat seekers and dance freakers: It’s time to take back the night. Miami is in store for a celebration of good music and fresh beats. Two of the dopest DJ-producers from the era of hip-hop consciousness are coming to kick it fresh and relive the old school as Maseo of the De La Soul crew and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest go back to back and head to head for your dancing pleasure.
The guys behind some of the most classic hits in hip-hop will take turns rockin’ the decks before delivering a special back-and-forth set. No doubt they’ll drop all your De Le Soul and Tribe favorites, but we’re sure they’ll be bringing tons of other flavor. Not to mention, they’ll be showing off their serious skills. No button-pushing buffoonery at these tables.
So what’s the scenario? The jam is heating up Friday at the Stage (170 NE 38th St., Miami). The function begins at 10 p.m., and tickets are going for $20 online and at the door. DJ Heron and the Polotix will be there for musical support.
