Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You

We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$10,000

Now that you have HD TV, you can’t even bring yourself to watch those other channels anymore. Standard definition is below your standards. You’ve seen the future, and there’s no looking back. Nothing can come between you and your TV screen. Unless it’s … a bigger screen. Like silver-screen big. Imagine the size of Cameron Diaz’s pores on a bad boy like that! Well, it might not be showing any of her flicks this month, but Miami Beach Cinematheque has acquired high-definition technology, and it’s celebrating through the month of May with The Best of Cannes in HD.

The month kicks off at 7:30 p.m. (there’s a second screening at 9:40) with 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days, the winner of the Palm d’Or in 2007. The hard-hitting, tough, tender Romanian film won accolades and awards worldwide and will amaze your eyes with fresh new detail at this viewing. Tickets cost $10. Call 305-673-4567, or visit www.mbcinema.com for a complete schedule of HD screenings.
