Feeling a little unbalanced? Well, teeter over to the TrueBalance Spring Mandala Celebration. TrueBalance fitness studio owner and Miami native Jenn Jacubowicz, a former psych major, usually encourages her clients to, among other things, “punch out frustrations with kickboxing” and “breathe worries away with yoga and tai chi.” But let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Mandala is a Sanskrit word that translates to “container of essence,” says Jacubowicz, and the mandala is a “cultural art form that has been used for thousands of years to represent union and wholeness.” Lost yet? Never mind. Just get your essence to the studio tonight from 8:00 to 10:00 if you want to see Samkhya (healing and sensual) dancers and fine art, hear live drumming, and check out wearable art. And you won’t starve: Nosh — wine, juice, and light hors d’oeuvres — will be served. There will also be a silent art auction and a raffle featuring donations from local businesses to support the Miami Rescue Mission. Call 305-444-3860, or visit www.truebalanceinc.com.
