This week brings two World Cup warm-up friendlies to Sun Life Stadium (2269 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens): England versus Ecuador last Wednesday and this Saturday’s featured match of England versus Honduras at 4:45 p.m. A week later, the Cup will open in Brazil, the Miami Gardens of South America. England manager Roy Hodgson has said he will play the full 23-man squad over the course of the two matches. This means you’ll get to see your favorite English stars up close — or from far away if you’re cheap — without some fussy TV director flitting from angle to angle and with the added thrill of potential heatstroke. Only six on the England squad have played a World Cup before. It’s a young and exciting team, but just because many of the team’s familiar faces won’t be on the pitch doesn’t mean they won’t be around. Former captain John Terry was photographed kissing an amusement-park dolphin last month in Orlando. And who knows? Ashley Cole might very well be in your pants right now. As for Honduras, well, in the team’s Sun Life appearance against Brazil late last year, it lost 0-5. Yes, it’s ranked 30th by FIFA, but what number are you, jerk? You aren’t even a country.
