Today is Local News Day

For the rest of the country, Memorial Day weekend marks the end of winter and the beginning of barbecue season. Families break out hamburgers and hot dogs, huddle around their grills, and consume triglycerides as if they were the secret to summertime fun. Of course, Miami has to do everything a bit differently, and while South Beach celebrates Hip-Hop Weekend with the gusto of a Tupac and Biggie rap battle, the James L. Knight Center (400 SE Second Ave, Miami) will host the seventh-annual Memorial Weekend Comedy Fest, presented by 99 Jamz.
The lineup features some of black comedy’s heaviest hitters: Earthquake, J. Anthony Brown, Gary Owens, Luenell, Marcus Combs, and Will Spank. Think of it as all the fun of the madness of South Beach but without the hassle of navigating through all the traffic on the way across the bay.
