In the ongoing drama of the hipsters’ love-hate relationship with the Internet and our increasingly immaterial world, cool kids worldwide continue to fetishize obsolete audio formats. First it was vinyl. Then it was audiocassettes. What’s next? A Sony MiniDisc craze?

Whatever the new wave, Roofless Records, our favorite local source of art objects and musical moments, is all set to feed your need for new music on old formats. They’ve already done tons of vinyl. And this Friday, they’ll slang tapes at Sweat Records (5505 NE Second Ave., Miami) for the Curious Hair and Flux Forces release party. There’ll be live entertainment from the aforementioned Hair and Forces as well as scene stalwarts Little Beard and Xela Zaid. There will be refreshments. And there will be collectibles. All you gotta do is pay $3 to get in the door or $5 to join the Roofless Rex cassette club.

Fri., Feb. 5, 8 p.m., 2010
