Of all the Wayans siblings (and there are many), Damon Wayans has become the most popular. He began creating iconic In Living Color characters alongside Keenan, Marlon, Shawn, and sister Kim. Damon found catchphrase fame as the ever-indignant Homey the Clown, a skit that will make its long-overdue transition to the silver screen in 2007. The dude earned so much street cred that he was mentioned in one of the Notorious BIG’s most popular songs: “There I is, Major Payne like Damon Wayans/Low-down dirty even, like his brother Keenan.” Instead of wallowing in gimmicky blockbusters like some of his brothers (Little Man, anyone?), he turned his comedic skills to darker territory in Hollywood Shuffle and Spike Lee’s damning minstrel movie Bamboozled. Damon Wayans will perform at 8:30 and 10:45 p.m. at the Miami Improv. Fans of his sitcom work might want to hire a babysitter, because tonight’s shows are for patrons 21 and older. Admission costs $37.45, and there’s a two-drink minimum. Call 305-441-8200, or visit www.miamiimprov.com.
