The crooner from Newark became one of the most popular musicians of the ’60s, beginning with his number one hit “Sherry” in 1962. He’s been immortalized in Broadway’s Jersey Boys, and he’s got pop-culture cred as a repeated guest star on The Sopranos. The aged among you will get nostalgic for his hits “Oh What a Night” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.
