Just five feet four inches tall, his diminutive size is no secret. But when the spotlight clicks on and his set begins, comedian Kevin Hart makes you forget he’s smaller than a breadbox. Until he brings it up, that is. Because — like any good comedian — he’s self-deprecating. A huge part of his act mocks both his height and the fact that he’s somewhat less than a macho man.
“I’m not a fighter; I’m a bitch and I’ll let it be known,” cracked Hart at a recent show in Maine. But don’t let his modesty fool you. We think he is actually pretty happy with himself right now. The Philadelphia native has skyrocketed from sneaker-selling obscurity to roles in megamovies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Along Came Polly, and Soul Plane. The crowds at comedy institutions like Caroline’s, the Laugh Factory, and the Comedy Store have given Hart two thumbs up, and he’ll be at our very own Miami Improv from Thursday through Sunday to get the 305’s stamp of approval. Tonight’s showtimes are 8:30 and 10:45 p.m., and tickets cost $16.05. Call 305-441-8200, or visit www.miamiimprov.com for additional showtimes and information.
