The Maasai may not be a household name, but the spiritual traditions and pastoral wisdom of these African people date back to the days before Western values were even a glimmer in the eyes of English rebels.
Fascinated with African culture, Tanya Pergola embarked on a ten-year apprenticeship in Tanzania with Maasai elders and healers, including Lekoko Ole Sululu. Together, she and Ole Sululu founded the humanitarian organization Terrawatu and, among other things, have helped implement sustainable development projects.
Through her book, Time Is Cows, Pergola shares the wisdom gleaned from her remarkable and transformative journey, as well as knowledge earned during her training as a Vedic master at the Chopra Center.
She and special guest Sululu will talk about insight, inspiration, and how to navigate our increasingly hectic lives. Because couldn’t your personal journey use a little wise guidance?
The event is free and begins at 7 p.m. Monday at Books & Books (265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables). Visit booksandbooks.com or call 305-442-4408.
