Miami may be one of the vainest cities
in the country — but at least we look good doing it. In that spirit,
we’re indulging our love of the superficial by spotlighting fashion
finds in the 305.
The Find: Super-soft leather and patterned canvas moccasins with a memory foam insole and driving shoe bottom by Alessandra Gold.
The Shop: Available at Alessandra Gold Concept Store, a new multi-purpose store in Midtown. This store has men’s shoes, heels, these driving shoes/moccasins, vintage finds, a house label and a handful of others — oh, and a photo studio where both look books and Jamaican music videos are shot on any given day. Alessandra is big in Taiwan, her native Brazil, and in New England, but this is her first outpost in Miami. We welcome her concept.
The Reason: There’s nothing like a good shoe, the kind that
doesn’t leave you blistered and whining and trying to convince yourself
that beauty is pain or some other adage your abuela drilled into your head. This is beauty sans pain, plus leather.
The Cost: $139
The Style: The girls that street style photographers
are capturing day after day aren’t lipstick-heavy girly-girls anymore.
They’re in sharply tailored looks meant for a smart, cool chick, the
kind of girl who carries her iPad in a snakeskin Diane von Furstenberg
case.
It’s a new day, fashion-forward girls — even Anna Wintour
has been seen in flats. The most modern wardrobe a girl can have right
now is a clean-looking working one. Pair these shoes with sharp pieces
from The Row, Olivier Theysken’s Theory, or AllSaints for a Savile Row look that’s perfect for the Magic City.
Wear
these to CVS or to a lunch meeting in Midtown — then stop into
Alessandra Gold’s store and buy them in another color for tomorrow.
Visit Alessandra Gold’s Design District store at 3326 N. Miami Ave. to try on a pair.
