Power couples make the world go round: Bill and Hillary Clinton, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, Frank and Kathy Lee Gifford, etc. Like the Power Rangers, these individual juggernauts combine to create forces greater than their parts. Just the sound of their hybrid names — Billary, Brangelina, Speidi — strikes fear into the hearts of their enemies.
And you can now add Forpin to that list. The female half of this classical music behemoth is award-winning Canadian cellist Amanda Forsyth, wife of Israeli violinist Pinchas Zukerman. This Wednesday night, Zukerman will serve as both conductor and soloist for the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra at the Knight Concert Hall while Forsyth solos on the cello. The bill for the evening — Haydn, Bruch, Tchaikovsky — plays right into Forpin’s strengths: technical precision and emotional brilliance. And it never hurts to have one of the top ten orchestras in the world backing you up.
