What happens when you combine F. Scott Fitzgerald’s great American novel and a dash of ’90s Marilyn Manson? Well, a mess. But under the watchful eye of Michelle Leshem and Jose Ortiz, Gatsby Gone Goth, an All Hallows’ Eve celebration this Saturday, will combine roaring-’20s hedonism with plenty of black makeup. (Remember, there’s no such thing as too much eyeliner.) The party will take over the ballroom and penthouse of the Raleigh, with performances by Toronto band the Parallels and local act Panic Bomber alongside DJs Tommy Gunn and Smeejay. In the penthouse, enjoy horrific sounds by Ess & Emm, Troy Kurtz, and Mister Drake. Photog Stian Roenning will shoot portraits of all the wannabe Toms and Daisys in a “dark-scene vignette” straight out of West Egg. It wouldn’t be the ’20s without some art nouveau, though, so Anthony Spinello has curated a video exhibition for the penthouse. Doors open at 9 p.m., and there will be a Heineken open bar till 10, followed by $5 specials all night long.

Sat., Oct. 30, 9 p.m., 2010
