Romance was once king, and in the lovers’ court, Engelbert Humperdinck is a knight in shining armor. He’s the silky-smooth ’60s singer who set the mold for anyone who croons sweet nothings in a dimly lit room. His rich, strong voice set hearts ablaze back in the day, and it might be just the thing to quench your modern thirst for love when he takes the stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center (1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) this Saturday.
His full-lipped, hunky face may have aged since the love-song glory days, but at 77, Humperdinck still boasts an incredible vocal range that can stir even the coldest heart into a lovelorn frenzy. Let him tenderly regale you with hits such as “Spanish Eyes,” “The Last Waltz,” “A Man Without Love,” and, of course, “Release Me.”
