Hialeah native and rising national dance star Rosie Herrera returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts (1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) this Friday not with her own company but with a piece performed by New York’s Ballet Hispanico, one of the top Latin dance troupes in the world. Show.Girl was commissioned by the Arsht and the American Dance Festival several years ago and will make its world premiere Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. by the dance company known for its innovative interpretations of both classical and contemporary forms of Latin dance. But Herrera’s latest won’t be the only treat of the evening. The Paquito D’Rivera Ensemble will provide the live soundtrack to a work from Ballet Hispanico’s Cuban-American director, Eduardo Vilaro, which updates the traditional dance of Cuba, danzón, with improvisational jazz. Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa will uses Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte as a muse for her all-male dance exploration. And Spain’s hot choreographer Cayetano Soto will deliver a duet featuring cutting-edge costuming by German fashion designers.
