$7,500

It’s what keeps the barbarians at the gate, separates us from the lesser world, makes livin’ in the U.S.A. so sweet. It is supposedly what kids in Iraq and Afghanistan are dying for. Yet in this century our nation has not been able to run free elections without protest and controversy. There is hard evidence our current ruler was never elected in the first place (he apparently was elected in the second place, though voters now say their 2004 decision was a mistake in judgment if not mechanics). A new video called The Road to Clean Elections, narrated by Bill Moyers, examines issues surrounding voting, from the technology to campaign financing, including new laws in Maine and Arizona aimed at making matters more fair. The documentary screens with free admission at 8:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami. Call 305-667-3697.
