Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
The summer slump is upon us. It’s hot, it’s wet — but without any of the fun that usually goes along with those two terms.
If you’re without an escape to a more hospitable climate, we can commiserate. The Jersey Shore sounds pretty appealing right about now, GTL and all.
Well, we’ve gotta make the best of things, so here are a few ways to save your pennies this week (hopefully to fund a late summer vacation somewhere north of here). Enjoy.
Monday
- Dead by Night reading at the Actors’ Playhouse: Immerse yourself in dualities, narcissism, and misguided moralism, all in the name of entertainment. This crime-noir play is a semi-fictionalized account of writer Patricia Highsmith’s life.
Tuesday
- Fill the Grill Challenge at Whole Foods North Miami: If celebrity chefs get your heart a-pumping, this is your chance to watch culinary all-stars Aaron Brooks, Todd Erickson, and Giorgio Rapicavoli sweat and slave over a hot grill.
Wednesday
- Yoga at Bayfront Park: Join your fellow Miamians in some much-needed zen-cercise (and a dose of fresh air unblemished by AC).
Thursday
- Lourdes Valentin Duo at the Betsy Hotel: While close in name to that other L-word dominating the airwaves, this Lourdes is a more sophisticated songstress. Expect everything from jazz blues to swing to modern day pop. Royals, schmoyals.
