“One, two Freddy’s coming for you. Three, four better lock the door.” Since its debut in 1984, Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street has burned itself into the terrified brains of generations. Whether you worship the franchise’s early, Johnny Depp-filled delights or can’t help but watch the latest Freddy vs. Jason fodder the story spawned, Freddy Krueger’s place in horror character royalty is well deserved.

O Cinema and Popcorn Nights are making your nightmares come true with Welcome to Elm Street: A Freddy Double Feature this Sunday at 6 p.m. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of A Nightmare on Elm Street and the 20th anniversary of Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, O Cinema is screening both films, plus a live Skype Q&A with Miko Hughes — the now-all-grown-up kid who starred in New Nightmare, Pet Sematary, Spawn, and Kindergarten Cop. Freddy freaks can come dressed as their favorite cinematic monster or horror character and win a prize, or dress in jammies for that nightmare/dream vibe.

Though the original Elm Street stars a relatively comical Freddy, New Nightmare comes closer to what Craven intended for the character, a more menacing, kid-hating killer. Fans get all sides of the campy horror icon with this event, which costs $20 online or at the door at O Cinema Miami Shores @ MTC (9806 NE Second Ave., Miami Shores). Call 786-565-FILM or visit o-cinema.org.
