Any ballet performance that includes dancers frantically flinging themselves about the stage while wearing candy-pink costumes deserves a spot at the top of post-holiday to-do lists. Forget about taking the tree to the dump; instead join ballet fans/curious gawkers for Miami City Ballet’s amazing three-part show Program II.
To avoid flying projectiles, take in the impossibly fast “Mercuric Tidings” from the balcony. Use binoculars to leer at couples seducing one another through the power of swing dance in “The Fox Trot: Dancing in the Dark.” Try not to drool on the bald dandy below as you marvel at the technical precision of “Ballet Imperial.” Hollywood execs, take note. A reality show could come of Program II — audiences watch as amateurs navigate the entire ballet, looking much like flamingos on meth. One of them triumphs. Lions eat the rest. Watch in wonder at 8 p.m. at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Call 877-929-7010, or visit www.miamicityballet.org. Tickets range from $19 to $175.
