We have only a few short days left before we say goodbye to 2014. It was a trying year for many of us, but it wasn’t without special moments and smiles. Let’s give it the sendoff it deserves and welcome 2015 with open eyes, minds, and hearts.
There’s no better way to celebrate new beginnings than in the middle of tropical paradise, especially when it’s free. Head to Bayfront Park (301 N. Biscayne Blvd., Miami) this Wednesday for its annual New Year’s Eve Celebration, complete with fireworks, dance music, and Miami’s very special rising “Big Orange.”
Funky Frank will lead the charge with hot tunes until the big midnight countdown. Turn your head to the south sky and watch as the Big Orange floats to the top of the InterContinental Hotel; then be wowed by a fireworks display so fantastic that USA Today and MSN named it one of the best ways in the world to ring in the New Year.
The celebration begins at 8 p.m. and lasts until the fireworks end. Please don’t bring any bottles, cans, coolers, or personal fireworks into the park. All ages are welcome in this family-friendly environment. Call 305-358-7500 or visit bayfrontparkmiami.com/nye.

Wed., Dec. 31, 8 p.m., 2014
