It’s understood that menopause and the songs it inspires won’t appeal to everyone. Menopause: The Musical, written by Jeanie Linders, will have a niche target audience. That’s right: There’s a truly unique musical out there covering the funny side of hot flashes, night sweats, chocolate binges, wrinkles, and mood swings. The stage at Parker Playhouse will transform into a department store, where four women meet at a lingerie sale. At first, what they have in common is simple: a black lace bra. But then through talking – and some singing – it’s revealed that there’s a whole subject worth bursting into more song about: the Change known as menopause. Since the production’s opening in 2001, around 11 million women have seen this show. Menopause will not be known as “The Silent Passage” anymore.

April 13-18, 8 p.m., 2010
