The Miami Marlins recently completed their best seven-game road trip in franchise history by sweeping the Houston Astros and zeroing in on a playoff berth. At press time, the Fish were six games back from first and only 4.5 games out in a tight wild-card race with about two months left in the season. And team morale is high.
“It’s huge,” Marlins relief pitcher Steve Cishek recently told reporters after recording his 26th save of the season. “After the All-Star break, we were talking about putting the first half behind us and grinding the second half out and trying to make a little run. This is a great way to start.”
However, it’s how the Marlins finish that matters most. The Fish kick off their final, regular-season series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday at 7:10 p.m. at Marlins Park (1380 NW Sixth St., Miami). At press time, the Cardinals were 1.5 games out first in the NL Central but tied for second in the wild-card hunt. Watch both teams duke it out for a date with the postseason while you scarf down bottomless beef franks, peanuts, popcorn, nachos, Pepsi products, and bottled water for $22 to $32, part of the Marlins’ promotional All-You-Can-Eat Mondays deal.
