Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Figuring out the sly secret behind Mona Lisa’s smile has perplexed you, us, and everyone else in the art world. If she were a 2008 girl, she would have figured out where to buy a $1.02 gallon of gas. But if you’re looking to solve new, equally fascinating mysteries created at the hands of local artists, visit Circa for Art After Dark. No, it’s not an exploration in fluorescent-light-less expressions, but a venue for alternative forms of artistic expressions.
From 7 p.m. to midnight, the Eclectic Network will bring radical, conceptual, and innovative artists such as wood-and-stone sculptor Julio Cesar Garcia, stained glass virtuoso Robiert Santana, and photographer Vicenta Casañ together in an exhibit that embraces experimental art without pretension. So don’t be embarrassed to be lulled into a trance by a piece or two; when done right, the stuff is supposed to make you think. But be warned: DJ OP will be spinning plenty of European, trip-hop, and Venezuelan electronica tunes guaranteed to lull you into an even deeper trance.
