The New World Symphony is cool and all, but what’s so hip about it? The wild kids these days just want to shake their bodies to pulsing beats in the dark and shoot lasers in one another’s faces. The world is a rave, bro.
Well, NWS isn’t just for your classical-loving parents. The symphony is kicking things up and turning the place out with PULSE: White Out at the New World Symphony (500 17th St., Miami Beach), because — face it — you pookieheads need some culture.
It’s a special edition this Friday, and attendees are asked to show up in all white for a multisensory, interactive experience. Dance and be wowed as the concert hall is totally reimagined with a nightclub atmosphere, complete with a dance floor for mingling, bars for drinking, and all the lights and body-moving music you could ask for. Video projections will entertain you while DJs spin alongside performances by the NWS crew. Even the totally hip Laura of Miami — music and programming director of klangbox.fm — will be there, so you know it’s going to be rad.
The party begins at 9 p.m., and tickets cost $35. Call 305-673-3331 or visit nws.edu.
