If you like sneakers and you like raw fish, put your hands together for the Seafood and Sneakers Ball, happening Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Goya Culinary Pavilion in Lummus Park (on the sand at Ninth Street and Ocean Drive in Miami Beach). As part of the second-annual Hess Select South Beach Seafood Festival, and after two kickoff events the previous night — one at Joe’s Stone Crab and the Seafood Shuffle Tour around South Beach — Friday’s main event is the saucing on the festivities.

A chef showdown at the Seafood and Sneakers Ball will pit toques from some of Miami’s premier restaurants in six rounds, all of which will include sustainable seafood provided by Whole Foods. Your vote will decide the winner in each category among contestants such as the soon-to-open Siena Tavern, Red the Steakhouse, Florida Cookery, Oceanaire, Dolce Italian, and Naked Taco, whose Ralph Pagano will also host the demo stages for the competition. Don’t get too stuffed, though — two raw bar stations and Bacardi open bars await. If you prefer to accompany shrimp and oysters with beer or wine, Hess Select will offer its new wines on tap, along with everyone’s favorite wheat beer, Blue Moon.

Alfresco drinking and eating, a sneaker exhibit, a fashion show, and an auction will keep you busy. You might want to enter for a chance to win a one-year lease on a new Range Rover Evoque. Winning will make that $150 ticket price seem like pocket change. Well, that and all the seafood and booze you’ll consume. Visit sobeseafoodfest.com.

Sat., Oct. 25, 1-9 p.m., 2014
