A couple of seasons ago, Chad Pennington led the Miami Dolphins to an AFC East-winning victory over his former team, the New York Jets. Last season, after getting into a war of words with Fins linebacker Channing Crowder, Jets head coach Rex Ryan and his team were served a massive beatdown on Monday Night Football, courtesy of Ronnie Brown and Miami’s wildcat offense. A mere two weeks later, then-Dolphins receiver Ted Ginn Jr. broke New York’s back with a pair of kickoff-return touchdowns in the Meadowlands.
For those keeping score, that’s three for the Dolphins and zero for the Jets. Nevertheless, those New Yorkers and their obnoxious fans are back to their usual trash-talking ways. Not that it’s breaking news or anything: The Jets lead the league in troglodytic douchebaggery. This Sunday at 8:20 p.m., the Dolphins will meet the Jets at Sun Life Stadium and do what they always do — mainly, dent some green ass while silencing loudmouthed Jets fans, who swear New York is the greatest place on Earth even though they live in South Florida.
