We thought ’80s teen-pop stars were nearly extinct, but apparently they’re actually alive and thriving in the Everglades. Or will be anyway. Former pop tarts Debbie Gibson (“Foolish Beat”) and Tiffany (“I Think We’re Alone Now”) will star as rivals in the upcoming SyFy Channel movie Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.
Yes, basically they are starring in a movie based on that infamous picture of a python exploding after swallowing an alligator.
Gibson will play a fanatical animal rights activists who frees exotic snakes from South Florida pet shops and releases them into the wild. Meanwhile, Tiffany plays a park ranger who will stop at nothing to save the native alligators from the troublesome snakes.
Tiffany had previously starred in this year’s Mega Piranha, while Debbie shone in 2009’s Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.
We can’t wait until 2034, when Ke$ha and Katy Perry are forced to star in the remake.
