The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
Dancing is therapy. Just the act of putting on some fun tunes and tapping your toes feels good. It feels even better to let loose, get on your feet, and express your emotions through movement, regardless of your ability. That’s the basic philosophy behind Karen Peterson and Dancers, a truly unique performance troupe that’s been bringing joy to folks with special abilities who might have overlooked the graceful dancer hiding inside them. Peterson’s troupe has toured the nation and won acclaim for its mixed-ability performances. This afternoon you can be amazed by the skills they’ve been teaching the next generation of hoofers.
Today at 2, some of the littlest members of the troupe will show their stuff in a performance at Excello Dance Space. By dancing, these kids not only gain the therapeutic benefits of interaction and uplifting personal esteem, but also inspire you to move and celebrate the power of self-expression right along with them. The performance is free. Call 305-298-5879, or visit www.karenpetersondancers.org to learn more about this remarkable nonprofit dance organization.
