Maybe he taught you how to ride a bike. Maybe he made a career out of scaring your boyfriends away. Maybe he’s the reason you have those blue eyes or that undying love for stupid puns. For all those reasons and more, your dad deserves the best this Father’s Day. And that means going above and beyond the old necktie-and-golf routine.
Instead, take him to Just the Funny (3119 Coral Way, Coral Gables) this Saturday, when Miami’s prolific improv troupe will pay tribute to both Pop and pop culture with The Walking Dad: A Father’s Day Zombie Improvised Musical. Using just a single word or phrase suggested by the audience as inspiration, actors will make up an entire show — songs and all — on the spot. The results are bound to be better than listening to your dad tell his own jokes for an hour. Not that that’s saying much.
