What’s better than spending your weekend getting lost exploring the winding paths and exotic foliage of a botanical garden? Perusing art from the best artists and artisans from the States and abroad through said winding path and exotic foliage. If that sounds like a good plan, head to Pinecrest Gardens (11000 Red Rd., Pinecrest) this Saturday or Sunday between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the 2015 South Motors Fine Arts Festival.
Admission is gratis, so you really have no excuse not to discover paintings, sculptures, mixed media, photography, and handcrafted jewelry from more than 65 artists in a lush and magical setting. Let the kids run amok while you indulge in some food and live music. Just make sure to catch film director Philip Haas’ larger-than-life exhibit, “The Four Seasons.” Besides his 1995 Oscar-nominated film, Angels and Insects, Haas is known for his four monumental and whimsical sculptures, each one towering more than 15 feet and made of natural elements that represent each season.
