Take a sweet deep breath and imagine it for two seconds: You’re sick with HIV. Poor. And having legal difficulties. There are two reasonable responses to such a despairing circumstance: violent overthrow of the government in pursuit of anarchy to end inequity and oppression, or asking for help. Both might be good ideas, but the latter is certainly easier, thanks to Help, Inc. and those who will join other fortunate ones at A Night of Hope.

Charitable partygoers can indulge in munchies from Grass Lounge and mojitos from Bacardi, dig the groovy tunes of local rock act Modernage and spinning records from the DJ team known as Black Jesus, and take part in a huge silent auction and cash raffle — all in the service of an organization that provides free legal services to the less fortunate ones. Come out and support this event tonight at Area 57.
Thu., May 10, 6-10 p.m.
